The original Ford GT40 was one of the most legendary cars ever built. Henry Ford wanted to beat Ferrari at the 24H of Le Mans and started to build the GT. It was a huge success and Ford was able to finally beat the Ferrari's at the legendary 24H of Le Mans endurance race. Then it became quite for the GT until the second generation was released in 2005. The GT range was brought back to life and was a big success, it had a lot of design elements from the old GT but then made to fit the current time. But that wasn't the end, a third generation (2nd generation to be official, but I see this as a number 3) and current entered the market. A completely different and bold design, but an absolutely stunning one. The moment it was released I fell in love with it. Ford decided that this wasn't for everyone, you had to be chosen by Ford to even be able to buy this. Adding to that you had to sign a contract saying you weren't allowed to sell the car within a certain period of time. So what powers this beast, a 3,5L Ecoboost V6, which doesn't sound too exciting. But it does push out 647bhp and 550lb-ft (745Nm). Currently an MK2 GT is being made.

Done for the real one, let's move on to the model!

My model came from Modellisto.at, modellisto sells a great variety of models in all scales. They also make some custom models like a gold wrapped G-Class 6x6. Be sure to check the guys out!

The model we're looking at today is the Ford GT made by GT Spirit. The colour combination is Frozen White with Race Red stripes. This is one of the many specs GT Spirit is making, there must be a spec out there you like.

When taking this car out of the box I was very surprised by the overall first impressions. The paint is quality is very good, I personally wasn't too sure on the stripes either but they actually really suit this car.

As far as the badge goes, it's slightly tilted but looks very good nonetheless. As to be expected the badge is metal etched.

One of my favourite parts of the Ford GT are the lights, GT Spirit has really nailed them. The stacked led's are both very detailed, both lights are silver with black and feature a little transparent plastic front part.

Thumbs up to GT Spirit for making the front grill metal etched too in the excact honeycomb pattern. A shame that the grills under the lights are just a closed grill.

Another great part of the Ford GT, the side profile. Such a sleek design. From a distance it looks almost perfect, a little downside that the rear bumper doesn't sit flush to the rest of the body.

I do like the wheels, though these wheels aren't an option on the real GT, that's because this style is only available as carbon while GT Spirit made them in black. As always on GT Spirit the brake setup is very well done.

Only wish they put a separate plastic part for the side reflector instead of a decal.

Shutlines are as expected, perfect.

The aggressive rear of the GT, again a very detailed part of this model.

Offcourse a metal etched GT badge is present between the black exhausts. Speaking of those exhausts, they aren't bad but could've been a bit deeper to add realism.

The rear lights are very nicely done, the middle part has a closed grill in it.

For the grills on the bottom it's the same story as on the front, the big grills are metal etched while the side grills are closed plastic.

A slightly disapointing part of this model is the engine. It's not very detailed and doesn't go very deep.

It is covered in a nice carbon fibre pattern, but that doesn't really make up for the rest of the missing details.

Last but not least, the interior. An oh so important part of a resin model and GT Spirit doesn't disappoint.

This model has the 're-entry' style interior featuring a black and white two-tone combo.

The details in here are absolutely stunning! GT Spirit has nailed every single button decal.

I am in love with this colour combination too.

The additon of metal etched shift pedals really finishes off this model. This is by far the best part of this model.

With that being said we're at the end of this review. GT Spirit has definitely done a good job on this one. They did miss out on some parts, closed grills, decals as side reflectors and engine detail. But they more than made up for it with the interior, wheels and metal etched parts.

Rating: 8/10

A great thank you to Niels from Modelcar Reviews for this introduction of a wonderful automotive icon! This model is made by GT-Spirit in Scale 1/18.
